| New companies and founders of companies find excellent start-up conditions at the Biotech Start-up Centre Gatersleben. The Biotech Start-up Centre was founded in 2000. The two storey complex of buildings provides over 2,500 sqm of space for hightech laboratory, office and greenhouse facilities.
The following companies have set up operations in the Biotech Start-up Centre: TraitGenetics GmbH, Array-On GmbH and BIO Mitteldeutschland GmbH, the InnoPlanta association, as well as the school laboratory for biology, the “green laboratory”. About 40 jobs have been created.
Services provided by the Biotech Start-up Centre include: Information and support for companies, ongoing help and support in setting up a new business, advice on development grants, project financing, arranging cooperations and technology transfers, location marketing and PR.
The partners in the company are the Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftsförderung Aschersleben-Staßfurt mbH [association for business development] and the ASTA Grundstücksgesellschaft mbH [a real estate company]. The company’s key function is to provide support to start-up and fledgling companies in the life sciences sector and help them become established.
The Biotech Start-up Centre is a member of the InnoPlanta plant biotechnology Nordharz/Börde competence network. The company has had a cooperation agreement in the technology transfer field with BioCon Valley GmbH, Greifswald since 2005.
