| Even the very youngest children the scientists of tomorrow can experience with their own hands the green biotechnology and the blueprint of life in the school laboratory for biology.
The “green laboratory”, the school laboratory for biology, was opened in 2006 on the Biotech-Campus at Gatersleben under the slogan, experiencing science. Its aims are to stimulate the interest of young people in the natural sciences, particularly biotechnology, while they are still at school, to give those of them with a special interest in science full support and encouragement, giving them the opportunity of developing their capabilities and potential to the full, and finally to give them full support in vocational guidance.
Apart from general biological subjects, the “green laboratory” Gatersleben, one of four school laboratories in Saxony-Anhalt, specializes primarily in the field of plant biotechnology, which enables it to offer a range of modern scientific methods in the field of green genetic engineering that is unique in Germany.
Not least, the laboratory has also been made accessible to members of the public with an interest in science in order to provide them with factual information and explanations about the cutting edge biosciences by means of events and courses.
